Security authorities in Lango have assured the public of maximum safety ahead of the presidential victory celebrations scheduled for this weekend in Lira City.
The Chairperson of the Lango Security Committee, Emmy Lawrence Egole, made the remarks during a media briefing, stating that all joint security agencies including the army, police, and prisons are fully prepared to maintain peace and order before, during, and after the event.
Egole emphasized that the celebration marks a significant milestone for the NRM party following its strong performance in the recently concluded presidential elections. He added that the event is inclusive and open to all people in Lango, regardless of religion, culture, or background.
Meanwhile, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Jimmy Patrick Okema, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment. He issued a stern warning to potential troublemakers, urging them to refrain from any disruptive behavior, noting that security forces will take firm action against anyone who attempts to cause chaos.
Okema further noted that the President’s visit is meant for all citizens, not a specific group, following his overwhelming support in the 2026 general elections.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to attend the first-ever victory celebration in Lango on April 18, 2026, after securing over 80.4% of the vote in the sub-region.
With security agencies on high alert and coordination in place, authorities are confident that the celebrations will proceed peacefully, reflecting unity and political stability in the Lango sub-region.
