The Board of Directors of Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH), led by its Chairperson, Dr. Fred Nyankori, has expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of ongoing infrastructure projects at the hospital following an inspection tour conducted on Friday, June 19, 2026.

The inspection formed part of the Board’s Fourth Quarterly Meeting and marked its final sitting for the 2025/2026 Financial Year. As the hospital’s highest governance organ, the Board used the opportunity to assess major capital development projects that are expected to enhance service delivery, improve patient experience, and strengthen the institution’s capacity to meet growing healthcare demands.

During the tour, Board members inspected several key projects at different stages of completion. Among them was the rehabilitation of a section of Police Road within the hospital premises, which has reached approximately 85 percent completion. The road is being upgraded with heavy-duty pavers and will be fitted with street lighting to improve accessibility, safety, and movement within the hospital compound.

The Board also visited the newly renovated Eye Unit, inspected the expanded Private Wing Outpatient Department (OPD), which is nearing completion at 98 percent, and assessed the rehabilitation works at the Isolation Ward designated for infectious disease management. In addition, members commended the successful completion of canopy structures along major walkways, an initiative aimed at improving comfort and protection for patients, caregivers, and staff moving across the hospital grounds.

Speaking after the inspection, Board Chairperson Dr. Fred Nyankori applauded the progress achieved and highlighted the significant transformation taking place at the institution.

“We have inspected the ongoing works and are greatly impressed by the quality and pace of implementation. The transformation taking place at Lira Regional Referral Hospital is evident, and these investments will significantly improve the environment for both patients and healthcare workers,” Dr. Nyankori said.

He noted that the Board remains committed to supporting strategic investments that strengthen the hospital’s infrastructure and service delivery capacity.
