The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) has arrested Atim Mega over allegations of uttering a false document during her application for employment with Apac District Local Government.

According to information released by the IGG, Ms. Atim  recorded a statement at the IG Lira Regional Office and was expected to appear before court in Apac District Tuesday 26th May 2026.

Investigations indicate that in May 2024, Ms. Atim applied for the position of Senior Agricultural Engineer in Apac District Local Government and was subsequently appointed to the post.

However, authorities later discovered that an appointment letter she allegedly submitted as proof of work experience was fraudulent. The letter, dated February 3, 2020, purportedly showed that she had worked as an Agricultural Engineer with Itek-Okille Farmers’ Cooperative Society.

Investigators say the leadership of the cooperative society disowned the document and confirmed that Ms. Atim had never been employed by the institution, declaring the appointment letter a forgery.

Under Section 328 of the Penal Code Act Cap 128, any person who knowingly and fraudulently utters a false document commits an offence and is liable to the same punishment as a person who forged the document.

The arrest highlights the government’s continued crackdown on fraud and forgery in public service recruitment, with authorities warning that individuals found presenting fake academic or employment documents will face prosecution.
